Pastor Chris: The Man

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, born on the 7th of December th, 1963 in Edo State, Nigeria, was raised in a family that was a faith-based one, and was surrounded by his loving and dedicated parents. He was the oldest of four children of Elder T.E Oyakhilome, one of the first pioneers of the Assemblies Of God Church in Benin City, and Angelina, and the matriarch of the Oyakhilome family, who imparted her divine grace upon her son at an early age.

The LoveWorld ministry includes all members of the family. His brother, Reverend Ken is the highly regarded Pastor of Christ Embassy’s Houston, Texas Church and a member of Christ Embassy Central Executive Council, and his sister, KattyWorghiren, is the director of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry (LMAM), which is home to several world-class gospel artists.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome attended Edo College before winning a scholarship to study architecture at Bendel State University, known today as Ambrose Ali University, where the student earned an BSc in Architecture and an honorary Doctor of Science award. Additionally, he holds an honorary doctorate degree in divinity from Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was his first university. He was called from God to enter the ministry and serve the Lord.

While still in university The Man of God started what would later become the largest congregation worldwide. It began with a small group of prayer known as ‘Youth for Christ’. The group would later grow to be the basis for LoveWorld Incorporated and Christ Embassy, and eventually millions of followers across the globe.

Christ Embassy is present in Pastor Chris’s native Nigeria as well as South Africa. It also has strong representations in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, and South Africa. The church has two Healing Schools based in South Africa. These schools are where Pastor Chris organizes sessions during the season that allow miraculous events to occur.

Music and Gospel Music play an integral part to worship. Pastor Chris recommends Christ Embassy Churches that a choir be trained by Loveworld Music and Arts Ministry. Many of these vocal talent go on to enjoy success as solo artists under the direction of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

COFI supervises the InnerCity Mission, ICM for Children, the Volunteer Medical Corps and Trauma International Foundation (TCIF), Future Africa Leaders Foundation , and the Bible For All Mission. Each of these organisations works to improve people’s lives and health, well-being, and wellbeing.
